Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
Why are we all worried about Reid, we just got a centre back in the highly impressive and powerhouse Donneil Henry

Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
How good is Burke?

By all accounts he had an excellent preseason.

Man Utd have been quite happy to throw teenagers into the back four. Surely if we want to send the right message to our youngsters we should at least be giving them a chance rather than pushing them further down the pecking order.

Burke should be given time from the bench to see how he performs.... Sunday would have been the perfect opportunity when we were 3 up (I think he was on the bench... He certainly was recently?)

Burke and Kouyate (and Henry) should be enough cover for the remainder of the season and we can go from there in the summer, if it's deemed that Burke and Henry need a bit more time to develop get in an experienced Lescott type for the short term.

Honest

My opinion is that Henry was bought in the same way Whitehead and Maguire were.

Low outlay on a possible player at sometime in the future but more likely will never make a dent in the first team stats

Well yes.

Has he been on the bench or played many U21 games?

Honest Hammer 10:17 Wed Jan 21
Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
He's capable of filling in there but would be a total waste there on a long term basis.

Is everyone forgetting HENRY?

Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
As a permanent replacement I think no but as short term or cover for injury then definitely yes.

The main reason I'd prefer us to keep Reid is that anyone new coming in will have to build a relationship with the others in the back four. It's much easier to do this over the summer in pre season than to be thrown in during it, especially if you have no Premier League experience.

You have no mate.

My mate is an Anderlect season ticket holder, says he can play CB but is a far better midflelder who completely changed their season when he made the switch

Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
Doesn't look like a PL centre back to me, playing that position whilst a kid wouldn't help him at all.

I'm sure the management team will know whether he's up to the task or not though.

Kayoute has played in the Champions League at centre back.

Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
Is everyone forgetting the discussions about Kouyate and whether he was a centre back or centre mid.

He has played at both for periods of times throughout his career.

So yes he could do it.

Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
We could sell Reid in the window if a big offer came in, but it's unlikely.

Arsenal are cheapskates, so they'll probably find some unknown Ivorian playing in the French second division.

Re: Could Kouyote play CB if we lost Reid?
The Premier League is meant to be one of the best leagues in the world. Players tend to be fairly specialist particularly at the top level and very few are capable of playing at the top level in multiple positions.

It would be a return to the bad old days of Ian Pearce (or Les Sealey) up front. Should only happen in an absolute emergency.

Kouyate's legs look a bit too spindly to be a CB.

Of course we would sell him if the right offer came in.
